About Plainmed

Health information is written for clinicians, lawyers, or search engines — rarely for the person sitting in the waiting room. Plainmed exists to fix that.

What we do

Plainmed publishes plain-English explainers about health topics: conditions, tests, procedures, medications, and the services behind your care. We translate the vocabulary, explain the reasoning, and tell you which questions are worth asking — so your time with a real clinician is spent on decisions, not definitions.

What we are not

Plainmed is an educational publication. It is not a clinic, not a hospital, not a telehealth service, and not affiliated with any hospital or health system. Nothing we publish is medical advice, and nothing here can account for your personal situation. Every page carries the same disclaimer, in the same words, for that reason.

Editorial policy

  • Sourced. Every article cites its sources — major clinical guidelines, government health agencies, and peer-reviewed literature — linked at the bottom of the piece.
  • Reviewed. Articles are reviewed by licensed clinicians before publication, and the review date is printed on every piece.
  • Dated and maintained. When guidelines change, articles change. Each piece shows when it was last reviewed; anything older than 24 months is re-reviewed or retired.
  • Plain by design. We target an 8th-grade reading level without dumbing anything down. If a term is unavoidable, we define it in the sentence where it appears — and in the glossary.
  • No sponsored medicine. We don’t accept payment from drug makers, device companies, or providers to cover or recommend anything.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected article. Spotted an error? Tell us — we genuinely want to know.

Who writes this

Plainmed is written by an editorial team of health writers and reviewed by a rotating panel of licensed clinicians across primary care, internal medicine, and the specialties we cover. Reviewer credentials appear on each article.

hello!

I’m Sandy Leigh

Fashion obsessed. Mother of three. Travel lover.

Elegance is a question of personality, more than one's clothing.

I am a lifestyle and fashion blogger, an obsessed photo-taker of my kids, a bubble tea lover, a shopaholic, and I love being busy.

This blog is my little slice of the interweb to share outfits (women’s fashion and mommy + me outfits), good shopping deals, recipes, show my progress on home decor (it’s a never-ending project, right?), talk about motherhood, and show daily inspirations.
